Guidelines for Contributors

Articles and Interviews
We welcome contributors to submit articles and interviews containing primary information (i.e. information coming directly from Indian people or Indian nations). Since most every issue is set up as a teacher's edition, we welcome teaching tip articles in all subject areas. We are particularily interested in the areas of music /finearts, reading comprehension, math, and science. Photographs are encouraged. All educational levels are included. Our articles are appropriate for a wide variety of groups to include: general readers interested in learning more about American Indians/Alaska Natives, parents, educational practitioners, and scholars.

Reviews:
Since we highlight American Indian perspectives, we look for material that has direct input from American Indian individuals or groups. All types and levels of media (to include commercial films) are accepted. Please include your name, address, a brief paragraph about your education or work experience, tribal affiliation (if appropriate). List the title; author(s), editor(s), or producer(s); ISBN or ISSN; total pages (for books and booklets); ordering information or availability of the media resource; grade/reading level; and recommended subject area usage. As a guideline for your review please refer to the article entitled: "Some Questions to Ask When Selecting American Indian Materials" located in most issues of this magazine. All submissions must be typed and double spaced. Computer disk copies are appreciated on Microsoft Word for Mac 98 or PC 99, MacIntosh ClarisWorks, Microsoft Works, or Quark XPress software. If you do not have access to a MacIntosh computer, we accept PC disks using Microsoft Word 99 or 2000. Please include hard (paper) copies.
